Consent to Work Extended Hours
As part of the onboarding process at The Job Shoppe, associates are asked to provide consent to work extended hours, if applicable. This consent, included in the onboarding sign-off form, acknowledges the potential need to work beyond the standard 8-hour day or 48-hour work week, with an allowable maximum of 60 hours per week as permitted by Ontario’s Employment Standards Act (ESA), 2000.
By consenting, associates agree to adhere to scheduled hours, even when they may extend beyond the typical work day. Additionally, associates are provided with a copy of the "Information for Employees about Hours of Work and Overtime Pay" from Ontario’s Ministry of Labour, which outlines employee rights and entitlements regarding hours and overtime pay. This document ensures that associates understand the guidelines and protections under the ESA.

If an associate wishes to revoke this agreement, they can do so by submitting written notice with at least two weeks’ advance notice. The Job Shoppe also reserves the right to withdraw this agreement with reasonable notice, ensuring flexibility and clarity for both parties. This consent is a standard part of the onboarding process, ensuring transparency and compliance with Ontario labour laws from the outset of employment.
