The Job Shoppe is hiring a Machine Operator – Cutter to join our team in Windsor, Ontario. Our client is a local leader in aluminum railing fabrication and is seeking reliable, safety-conscious individuals with strong mechanical aptitude. Wage: Starting rate to be determined based on experience and interview
Start Date: Hiring immediately, with various start dates available
Position Type: Full-Time, On-going (Must be available to work 40 hrs weekly plus overtime)
Shifts: Steady Day Shift – 7:00am to 4:00pm
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Machine Operator – Cutter, you will be responsible for accurately cutting aluminum railing components based on blueprint specifications to prepare materials for the welding department. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a warm, industrial environment.
Responsibilities may include:
- Set up and operate saws and other cutting machinery to prepare aluminum materials
- Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings
- Measure and mark materials accurately using various tools (e.g., tape measure, square)
- Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of machinery and workstations
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet quality standards
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure safe use of equipment
- Work efficiently to meet daily production targets
Position Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and production drawings
- Basic mathematical and measurement skills
- Comfortable working in a warm environment (not climate-controlled)
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, metal fabrication, or saw operation role is an asset
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Reliable transportation (location is not on a bus route)
- Excellent attendance and a positive attitude
Work Environment:
- Not climate-controlled; temperatures can be warm, especially in the summer
- Industrial fabrication setting with exposure to saws, tools, and aluminum materials
- Fast-paced and team-oriented atmosphere
- On-the-job training provided
Physical Demands:
- Standing for extended periods (8+ hours)
- Bending, lifting, twisting, and repetitive motions
- Lifting materials up to 50 lbs
